Poudre River

Calming yet roaring. Simply beautiful yet profoundly mysterious. The Poudre left me having so much to say, while also feeling completely and utterly speechless.

Having encountered the rushing water next to solid rocks, I sense the gravity of being led beside still waters by the Shepherd of Psalms 8 and 23.

“What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” Psalm 8:4-9

“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:1-4

The psalmist begs the questions in chapter 8…

How can it be that the God of the universe, who made all of this, loves you and me?

How can it be that the God of the rivers and mountains desires to bend close to mankind?

How can it be that the God of the heavens gives beauty as a resource to fight against darkness?

He is indeed the God of love, you see.

I see it in the colors of nature, beckoning to greater glory.

I see it in the majesty of the endless skies and the comfort of being with old friends.

I see it in the water that testifies to the living water He offers to those who follow the Way.

May I dare you to take a great expedition?

May I dare you to move closer to Him today?

May I dare you to open your eyes to Light and Love today?
